Reading

 LI: Retrieve information from the story

Please log in to Purple Mash. You will find a ‘2Do’ to read Chapter 7 of our Class Story, ‘The Settlers'. After you have read the chapter you have two tasks.

1. Answer the multiple choice questions. You can find all the answers in the first chapter you have read. These questions can be done online, they are set as a ‘2Do’. Or you can print the questions and answer on paper. The document is below.

1. Sequence the events from the chapter in order. You can view or print this task below.

LI: Write a book review

I hope that you have all been managing to fit in some reading for pleasure these past few weeks and I would love to hear about some of the books you have been reading.

You could do this on a plain piece of paper or on your computer or you might choose to use of the templates below.

You could include a brief ‘synopsis’ (tell the main points of the plot), give your book a star rating and also give your opinion. Before you begin writing, have a think about these questions to help you.

• What are your thoughts about the story?
• What was your favourite part and why?
• What was your least favourite part and why?
• What sort of person would you recommend this book to?
• Would you want to read more books by the author? Why?

Then complete the worksheets. Try to do these on ClassDojo if you can so you can complete them on screen and save to your portfolio. You can also find them here, though. Remember, if it is very tricky you can do just the first worksheet but challenge yourself as much as you can!

There will be a chance for the children to share work from the week such as their Cave Art as usual and then we will focus on Reading. This morning's English task was to write a book review about a book of the children's choice which they may like to share and I will then begin reading a new Class story  to the children which I will continue with throughout our TEAMS sessions in the coming weeks. We love story time at school and I hope the childrencan snuggle down and relax and enjoy hearing a regular instalment of a shared story from home or in their school bubble. Then we'll have 

opportunities to discuss the story together.
