LI: Retrieve information from the story

Today we will begin our new Class Story and I have chosen one which links very closely to our Science focus, ‘Rocks and Fossils’. It’s called ‘Mary Anning and the Time Twister’ and you will learn that Mary Anning is a very important historical figure when it comes to fossils!

We will follow a similar pattern to The Settlers, reading a chapter at a time and working on multiple choice and open ended questions, sequencing and related SPAG tasks.

Log into Purple Mash, you have three 2Dos:

  1. Read Chapter 1
  2. Answer the multiple choice questions. You can find all the answers in the first chapter you have read. These questions can be done online, they are set as a ‘2Do’. Or you can print the questions and answer on paper. The document is below.
  3. Sequence the events from the chapter in order. You can view or print this task below.

Alternatively, the chapter is saved as a PDF below.

LI: Use relative clauses

Focusing on our text, ‘The Truth About Trolls’, we will look at how Professor Folklore has ‘dropped-in’ some extra information to some of his sentences by adding a relative clause. Then you can have a go at ‘dropping-in’ some extra information to a sentence about trolls. After doing this worksheet, please see if you can write some sentences of your own, including a relative clause.

LI: Give change

Please watch the learning video on this link https://vimeo.com/499227948

Then complete the worksheets. Try to do these on ClassDojo if you can so you can complete them on screen and save to your portfolio. You can also find them here, though. Remember, if it is very tricky you can do just the first worksheet but challenge yourself as much as you can!

LI: Design my own Stonehenge

First have a look through the powerpoint to learn a little more about Stonehenge and if you'd like to challenge yourself you could do the quiz at the end.

Then your task is to design and create your own version of Stonehenge. You could try using Lego, paper, card, play doh, biscuits or absolutely anything! There are some pictures below for inspiration. Some of you may like to share your creations in our TEAMS lesson on Friday.

Times Tables practise

LI: Practise rapid recall of multiplication and division facts

Just select the sheet below for the times tables you are working on and have a practise. If you and your parents/ teacher think you're ready to move on as we go forward then please do - you'll be able to amaze me with your progress after lockdown!
