NURSTEED Community Primary School

‘Through kindness, teamwork and determination we thrive.’

School Meals

Our lunches are provided by Lataca Ltd. and are cooked on the premises. The menu is found below. If your child has a special dietary requirement please let us know.

Payment for children in Key Stage 2 is made in advance.
Packed lunches may be brought to school (in a named container please). We do not have cold storage facilities for lunch boxes. You may wish to include an ice pack in your child’s lunchbox during warmer weather.

Free School Meals

Until September 2014 free school meals were available to children in families who received specific benefits (below). If you receive these benefits we’d really like you to register, whatever the age of your child, and even if you provide a sandwich meal. The reason for this is the amount of money the school receives depends, in part, on the number of children who are registered.
From September 2014 all children in Key Stage 1 have been eligible for a free school meal. (But we’d still like you to register if you receive the relevant benefits! Otherwise the school will miss out on important funding.) You’ll order the meals in the same way as everyone else. You just won’t have to pay.
If your child is in Key Stage 2 you can register to get free school meals (below). If you are entitled then it makes sense to register, whether or not you choose to take the meals, or your child’s school will get less funding than it’s entitled to.

How does it work?

  1. First, check if you qualify – visit www.wiltshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or look at the list below.
  2. Registering is really quick and easy – do this online (at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals), download a form or talk to admin. staff in the school office who’ll be glad to help
  3. If you want your child to have a free meal at lunchtime that’s great – they’ll get the free meal and the school gets its extra funding
  4. If you don’t want your child to have the school meals they can have a packed lunch from home, but the school still gets the extra funding.
  5. Registering will not affect any benefits you are claiming.

Do you qualify?

You can register if you get any of these benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit 'run-on' - the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
